Important news for everyone, a bit of death by commitee. KMRB, the Korea Media Rating Board, http://www.kmrb.or.kr/ contacted SuperColorSuper’s lead manager this afternoon that to put on the show will result in prison time and serious fines- in light of the show has been properly reviewed by this censorship board. The Liars’ were fully prepared to perform and did everything properly, this is no way reflects upon them. The blockade comes from down to us by way of government. Our co-promoter had heard a few days together that someone (not sure which) was set to interfere with our shows now since our grassroots/DIY work had been gathering support, and we had been researching everything we could to be locked and loaded. We didn’t expect this though. Unless there is a way found to make the process easier, this might mean some drastic changes in concerts in Korea.
We’ve gotten Media Rating Board approval for shows in the past when they were possible, but for most venues they are impossible to get because of zoning classicications- places that constantly run shows are not eligible venues for this board, as they are not licensed in the exact way. There are a handful of governement-acceptable place in Seoul, and they are nil in Busan, Daegu.
So why is this coming about now, in the midst of years of regular unapproved shows? When asking the board why they were only shutting down Liars’, they confirmed they knew of many other unlicensed shows happening the same night as Liars, but were only asking us to stop at the behest of a company who called them.
About the show-
To be clear– Liars will not be allowed to perform. Full refunds will be granted. Our widest apologies go out to our fans and the band.

2월11일,2월12일에 계획되어 있었던 LIARS KOREA TOUR 를 취소하게 되었습니다.
공연 시작 하루 전, 영상물등급위원회 http://www.kmrb.or.kr/ 에서 공식적 추천을 받지 않은 공연을 진행할 시에 따르는 벌금,징역형에 대한 통보 전화를 받았으며,이러한 모든 상황을 감안하여 SCS가 내린 최선의 결정은 ‘공연 취소’임을 알려드립니다. 무엇보다도 공연을 기다려주신 LIARS의 팬 여러분들과,항상 저희가 기획하는 공연을 아껴주시고 즐겨주신 팬 여러분들께 대단히 죄송스러운 마음을 전합니다.
공연 시작 며칠 전부터 관계자들 사이에서 나돌던 루머가 현실이 되었으며 아직은 작은 기획사인 저희로써는 공연을 위한 만반의 준비가 되어있었음에도 불구하고 예정대로 진행시킬 수 있는 방법이 전혀 없었습니다.현재 한국의 공연 업계 시장의 상황은 외국 뮤지션들의 내한 공연이 ‘합법적으로’ 열리기에는 다소 열악한 것이 사실입니다.
많은 예산을 들이는 대형 공연장과 소수의 공연장을 제외하고는 사실상 영상물등급위원회의 추천을 받을 수 있는 장소가 현저히 부족한 상태이며 비자를 얻는 부분에 있어서도 절차나 기간적인 부분과 관련해 어려움을 겪는 경우가 종종 발생합니다. 현재의 공연 업계 상황이 이러하다보니 부득이하게 영상등급위원회(이하 영등위)의 추천을 받지 않고 이루어지는 많은 내한 공연이 이루어지는 것이 현실이고 공연 업계에 종사하는 분들이라면 이 점에 대해서는 누구나 인지하고 있는 내용입니다. 저희 SCS는 이번 일에 대해 어떠한 변명을 하려는 것은 아닙니다.여의치 않는 상황에서도 보다 철저하고 안전한 방법을 강구하지 못했음을 뼈저리게 반성하고 있으며 법이라는 테두리를 보다 영리하게 이용하지 못한 점에 대해서 쓰디쓴 교훈을 얻고 있는 중입니다.
그러나 많은 사람들이 암묵적으로,그리고 현실적으로 변화의 필요성을 느끼고 있다면 이번과 같은 상황으로 말미암아 보다 나은 환경을 위해 누군가는 제안을 해볼수도 있지 않을까 하고 생각하였습니다.입국하는 뮤지션들을 위해 보다 간소화된 비자 획득 절차와 합법적 공연 장소의 증대 등 몇 가지 사항들이 개선된다면,지금보다 훨씬 비옥한 공연 환경이 조성될 것이고,그렇게 된다면 법이라는 도구가 기획사간의 이해 관계,힘의 논리 등에 악용될 가능성은 낮아질 것입니다. 이것은 비단 저희 SCS 뿐만이 아닌 공연을 사랑하시는 많은 분들을 위한 일이기도 합니다. 여러분들이 원하는 뮤지션들을 최대한 많이 초대하여 최대한 저렴한 가격으로 공연을 제공하는 것이 저희의 일이자 임무이기에 여러분들께서 공연 취소의 근원이 된 전반적인 상황에 대해 어느 정도는 알 권리가 있는 부분이라고 판단했습니다.
Liars공연은 취소 되었지만, 오늘 2.11(금) 같은 장소,같은 시간에 저희가 기획한 fundraiser party 가 열립니다.
Liars가 공연을 하지는 않지만 저희가 관객의 일원으로 파티에 초대하였으므로 Liars도 함께 파티를 즐길 예정입니다.
