MGMT를 세상에 내보낸 뉴욕의 천재 형제 듀오!
각종 미디어와 한국 팬들의 전폭적인 지지에 힘입은 12월 두 번째 내한 소식
 
올 4월, 내한공연 매진 기록과 함께 각종 미디어의 관심을 받으며 성공적 투어를 마친 French Horn Rebellion이 올 12월 다시 한국팬들을 찾는다. Milwaukee 출신의 Robert Perlick-Molinari가 친형 David Perlick-Molinari와 함께 결성한 French Horn Rebellion. 이름부터 독특한 이들은 뉴욕을 기반으로 한 일렉트로 팝 듀오이다. 어린 시절부터 클래식 음악 교육을 받았으며 French Horn을 연주할 줄 아는 동생과 미디 프로그래밍과 일렉트로 음악에 빠진 형이 그들의 능력을 합쳐 새로운 사운드를 정의해 내고 있다. 더구나 형 David은 MGMT의 ‘Time to Pretend E.P’의 공동 프로듀서였다. 이들의 음악에서 초창기의 MGMT, Friendly Fires, Phoenix 등의 뮤지션들이 떠오르는 건 그런 이유이다. 사운드와 엔지니어쪽에 심취해 있던 David가 친구인 MGMT의 첫 데뷔 E.P에서 엔지니어와 프로듀스를 담당하여 걸출한 듀오의 재능을 세상 밖으로 끌어내 보낸 것이다. 그 이후 MGMT와 한 곡을 더 작업하였지만 밀려드는 광고음악 작업과 갑작스럽게 몰려온 세상에 대한 근심걱정으로 음악의 발표는 무기한 연기되었다고 한다. 그 사이 MGMT는 메이저 음반사와 계약을 하여 완벽하게 콘트롤된 일렉트로 팝듀오로 전세계를 향해 뻗어나갔고, French Horn Rebellion은 최신 유행의 리프와 리듬을 계속 연구하며 끊임없이 진화하는 사운드로 그들만의 독자적인 길을 만들어 가고 있다. 그런 그들의 행보를 놓고 뉴욕 타임즈에서는 Next Big Thing으로 선정하였고, 영국의 Guardian은 오늘의 신인밴드로 뽑았으며 NME에서는 유행에 민감한 이들을 위한 음악이라고 호평하였다. 뿐만 아니라 영국 BBC 라디오 차트에서는 1위를 거머쥐었고, 프랑스 음악 전문지인 les inrocktuptibles에서는 금주의 싱글로 꼽았다. 그렇게 점점 수면 위로 떠오르게 된 형제 French Horn Rebellion은 프랑스에서 가장 Hot한 컴필레이션 Kitsune Maison Vol. 8에 ‘Up All night’을 첫 번째 트랙으로 수록하면서 전세계적인 주목을 받게 되었다. 더불어 국내 유명 카메라 광고에 이 곡이 사용되면서 관심이 집중되었고, 지난 4월 첫 투어시 국내 일렉트로 뮤지션과의 콜라보레이션 등 다채로운 음악활동을 펼치며 한국에서도 큰 인기를 누리고 있다.

The brothers Perlick-Molinari are a cocktail of MGMT +Giorgio Moroder among others influences in the form of FRENCH HORN REBELLION. The Brooklyn-based duo already had an illustrious pedigree; David produced MGMT‘s indie release, Time to Pretend EP for New York indie Cantora Records, and with previous single “Up All Night” they scored a Record of the Week on BBC Radio 1 and an opening slot on the influential KitsunÈ Maison compilation series; a big deal for a virtual unknown. The band have also remixed the likes of MEN, Two Door Cinema Club, OMD and Alex Winston. 2010 also saw tours with Hot Chip, Sleigh Bells and Cut Copy to name a few before leading them here to Asia with MGMT in China and Singapore and then for a HUGE show at Rolling Hall this last April and exclusively with SUPER C۞L۞R SUPER
 
Following packed out NYC performances at CMJ, the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival and in support to MNDR at the launch of new Neon Gold / Popjustice party POPSHOP, FHR will visit Europe in March for a handful of shows before heading home to play SXSW and then on to Asia for shows in Hong Kong (w/ MGMT), China, Korea and Japan.
