작년 광란의 Mogwai 공연 이후 아직도 후유증에 시달리고 있는 사람들, 새로이 포스트락의 보충이 필요한 사람들, 정독하길 바란다. 스웨덴 출신의 포스트락 밴드 Pg.Lost가 그 누구도 시도하지 않았던, 아마도 현존하는 해외 인디밴드의 국내 투어 중에서는 가장 긴- 오는 4월 2일부터 8일까지 열릴 6일 6도시 투어를 위해 내한한다. 이번에도 역시 SCS가 수퍼파워를 발휘해 한국에 훌륭한 밴드를 데려오는데 성공, 더불어 한국 내 투어 써킷이 어떤 모습으로 나아가야하는지를 보여주는 새로운 방향을 제시하게 된 것이다. 가슴속에서 울리는 오케스트라. 길 잃은 이들을 위한 텅 빈 운동장. 좌절과 재기에 대해 드문드문 떠오르는 생각들. Pg. Lost는 이렇듯 다양하게 표현될 수 있지만, 그 중에서도 소중하고 높은 소망을 품은 가슴들이 맞닥들이게되는 – 결코 개인적이지만은 않은 – 멜랑꼴리한 감정의 향연과 더불어 끝없는 실험적 인스트루먼탈의 연장으로 소리의 경계를 허무는 대조적인 모습을 보여주는 밴드이다.

Pg.Lost는 최근 한 미국인이 그들의 음악을 무단도용해 레코드 계약을 하려 했던 사건 때문에 언론의 많은 관심을 받았다. 그러나 Pg.Lost의 음악은 듣는 사람의 깊은 감정이나 해결되지 못한 문제 같은 것들을 밑에서부터 끌어올려주는 사운드를 들려주기에, 일부 리스너는 충분히 그들의 음악을 사적인 것으로 잘못 집어 삼킬법도 하다.

Pg.Lost는 달콤하고 환각적인 인스트루먼탈 밴드들 중 하나로, 사색과 명상을 일으키는 소리로 청자들을 생각에 잠기게 했다가, 한껏 일그러진 기타, 신스, 그리고 드럼의 맹습으로 이를 방해하기 시작한다. 그들의 음악은 Explosions in the Sky, Mono 와 같은 스타일로 조용한 전반부에서부터 서서히 발전되다가 절정의 몰아침와 잔잔한 파트의 반복을 통해 완성된다.

An orchestra of the heart. A playground for the long lost. sporadic thoughts of giving in or getting back. Pg. Lost is many directions at once, but most of all a band throbbing with great melancholy grinding against the precious high hopes of not just individual human thinking and feeling, but also contrasts within pushing the sonic boundaries of endless instrumental experiments of prolonging. Pg. Lost recently received a lot of press attention because of an American individual attracting a record deal by falsely using their music as his own. But then again Pg. Lost does have a way of sounding like a deep emotion or unresolved issues, so no wonder a fraction of us get confused, and start mistaking their music for something private.

Pg. Lost is that mellifluous instrumental band of the stoner ilk, whose sound lulls in slow arcs of contemplative moments rendering listeners to their own thoughts, then interrupting with bursts of distorted guitar, synth, and drumming onslaughts. In the same style as Explosions in the Sky and Mono, their music builds from quiet beginnings, volleying back and forth between crescendos and intervals of calm.
