ASOBI SEKSU, 일본어로 ‘장난기가득한 섹스’ 라는 뜻을 지닌 이름의 이 밴드는 뉴욕을 베이스로 하는 드림팝 밴드로써 전형적 슈게이즈 My Bloody Valentine의 음악을 떠올리게 한다. 일본인 리드 싱어 Yuki Chikudate와 기타리스트 James Hanna 로 구성된 이 밴드는 현재까지 네 장의 앨범 발매를 통해 지극히 여리고 미묘한 멜로디를 선보이며 비평가들의 찬사를 받았다.
이들 음악은 J-pop 과 슈게이즈에서 모두 영향을 받았고 Sonic Youth 부터 Yo la Tengo 같은 밴드들에게서 영감을 이끌어낸다. 전세계적으로 많은 팬들이 이들의 음악을 사랑하며 “Skins” 와 “The L-Word” 같은 TV show에서 배경 음악으로 사용되는 등 다채로운 활동 스펙트럼을 보여주고 있다.

Asobi Seksu, which loosely translated from Japanese means “playful sex”, is a New-York based dream pop outfit, whose sound is reminiscent of traditional shoegaze artists like My Bloody Valentine. Core members Yuki Chikudate, the Japanese born lead singer, and guitarist James Hanna have fashioned four albums out of their ethereal, gauzy melodies to much critical acclaim.

Influenced by both J-Pop, and Shoegaze, drawing inspration from bands spanning from Sonic Youth to Yo la Tengo, Asobi Seksu’s music has drawn loving fans from across the globe, and have had their music featured on best music lists, and Tv Shows such as “Skins” and “The L-Word”
