Lymbyc Systym (ex-members, Crystal Castles) return to Korea to support the release of their 3rd full-length album Symbolyst Experimenting with a wide range of sounds on the album, the layered instrumentals manage to seamlessly flow together to create beautiful soundscapes and dream-like melodies. Brothers Jared (keys) and Michael Bell (drums) have taken a livelier, more optimistic approach on Symbolyst than they have with their previous albums, while still maintaining their distinct sound. Fans of Four Tet Tortoise, Explosions in the Sky and Album Leaf will especially enjoy this
Symbolyst is aptly named after the 19th century movement that created art for the purpose of revealing truths in an indirect manner. Lymbyc Systym’s electro-instrumental rock allows the listener to interpret the truth of the music in their own, personal way. The album was created while the duo was continents apart (Michael was in Japan and Jared was studying graphic design in Brooklyn) via emailing files back and forth over a 3-year period. Their varying experiences and influences during that time resulted in an album with cross-genre appeal, blending together smooth synthesizers, fuzz bass…and dance-floor rhythms
Since their formation in 2001, Lymbyc Systym has toured all around the world and supported for bands such as Broken Social Scene, Crystal Castles, The Album Leaf, and Her Space Holiday. If you missed Lymbyc System’s 2010 Korean tour, make sure you check them out this time around.

LYMBYC SYSTYM이 세 번째 정규 앨범, Symbolyst 의 발매와 함께 다시 한번 한국을 찾는다. 에두른 솜씨로 가려진 진실을 밝히고자 했던 19세기의 예술 사조에서 그 제목을 따온 이번 앨범은, 듣는 이에게 음악의 진실이란 무엇인가를 생각하게 만들 것이다.
Jared (키보드) 와 Michael (드럼) 형제로 이루어 진 LYMBYC SYSTYM은 2001년 결성 이래로 Broken Social Scene, Crystal Castles, The Album Leaf, Her Space Holiday와 함께 전 세계 투어를 함께하였고, 2010년 처음으로 내한한 바 있다.
Symbolyst는 독특하게도 형제가 서로 다른 대륙에 떨어져 있는 동안 완성되었다. Michael은 일본에서, Jared는 브루클린에서 지낸 3년간 서로 메일을 주고받으며 그들이 겪은 경험들을 음악에 녹여내었다. 그 결과 부드러운 신스 음과 퍼지한 베이스톤 그리고 댄서블한 리듬이 혼재되어 장르를 넘나드는 음악이 탄생한 것. 보다 다양한 사운드에 대한 치열한 탐구의 결과물인 이번 앨범에는, 쌓아 올려진 여러 층의 연주가 흠결 없이 이어져 아름다운 소리의 풍경과 꿈결 같은 멜로디를 빚어낸다. 이전 앨범들 보다 더 밝고 생기 있는 음악으로 채워져 있으면서도 고유한 개성을 잃지 않고 있다. Four Tet, Tortoise, Explosions in the sky, 그리고 The Album Leaf 의 팬들이라면 놓치지 말아야 할 음악이다.
