Japandroids 는 Vancouver를 기반으로 한 Brian King 과 David Prowse의 2 인조 밴드이다. 원래는 3인조를 하려고 했으나 마지막 한 명의 멤버는 영입하지 않기로 하고 두 명이서 모든 작업을 함께 하기 시작했다. 그 결과, Japandroids 는 멤버 두 명이 드럼 셋, 기타, 그리고 보컬만으로 5 인조 밴드의 사운드를 만들어내는 듣도보도 못한 음악을 하는 밴드가 되었다.

Japandroids 는 2009년 레이블 Polyvinyl 을 통해 평단의 찬사를 흠뻑 뒤집어쓴 데뷔 앨범 Post-Nothing 을 발매했다. 그 후, King 과 Prowse 는 2009-2010년 집중적으로 투어에 몰두했으며 20개국이 넘는 나라에서 200회 이상 공연을 치르게 된다. 덕분에 그들은 폭발하는 듯한 에너지로 가득한 자신들의 라이브 무대의 명성을 빠르게 얻을 수 있었다. 최신작 Celebration Rock 은 밤하늘 꺼질 줄 모르는 가장 깊고 어두운 살아있는 폭죽을 묘사하는 듯한 음악들로 채워져 있다.

Japandroids is a two-piece band from Vancouver, BC, consisting of Brian King and David Prowse. Originally intending to be a trio, the boys decided to skip the extra members and do all the work themselves. As a result, the Japandroids are a set of drums, a guitar, and a vocal duo optimized to sounds like a five-piece band that you’ve never heard before.
Japandroids released their critically acclaimed debut album Post-Nothing via Polyvinyl in 2009. Then, King and Prowse toured extensively throughout 2009–2010, playing over 200 shows in more than 20 countries, and quickly gained notoriety for their extremely energetic live performances.
Celebration Rock, the newest album, is described as living fireworks that the deepest, darkest nights could not extinguish.
