Shigeto(Ghostly International)는 디트로이트 음악가이자 프로듀서 Zachary Saginaw의 솔로 프로젝트이다. Shigeto는 그의 가운데 이름이며 할아버지의 이름이기도 한다. 그의 계보에 있는 일본혈통을 기린 것이다. 그의 말에 의하면 Shigeto는 ‘처음으로 건너는 자, 장자, 큰 성장’을 의미한다. 그는 9주 일찍 태어났으며 453그램이 채 되지 않았다.

 
앰비언트 음악의 서늘한 기운, 초기IDM의 중얼거림, 덥스텝의 서브 베이스, 그리고 재즈의 선율은 Shigeto의 음악 팔레트를 물들이며 그는 이것들을 마치 화가처럼 휘두른다. 마찬가지로, 그의 라이브 공연은 라이브 드럼소리와 전자음악의 아름다운 조합이다. 그의 작품들이 성장하는 동안 그는 크로아티아의 Soundwave, 오리곤 주의 What The Festival, 디트로이트의 Movement, 그리고 시애틀의Decibel Festival와 같은 세계 곳곳의 유명한 페스티벌에서 무대를 가졌다. Shigeto는 2013년 8월에 발매된 No Better Time than Now를 통해 여전히 다재 다능한 모습을 보여준다. 프로듀서이자 드러머인 그에게서 기대했던 소리와 아이디어들이 복잡하고 정교하게 잘 직조된 패브릭 같은 앨범이다.
 
비트가 강하면서도 풍부한 사운드 디자인. 분열된 리듬이지만 호화로운 멜로디. Shigeto의 음악은 과거와 현재를 잇는 다리이다. 11월 7일부터 10일, 변화의 범위를 가늠키 어려운 Shigeto의 다채로운 리듬과 멜로디에 심취할 수 있는 사흘간의 기회를 놓치지 않기 바란다.

SHIGETO (Ghostly International) is the solo project of a Detroit-based musician/producer, Zachary Saginaw. It’s his middle name and also his grandfather’s name, a tribute to the Japanese branch of Zach’s family tree. SHIGETO means, as he says, “First to cross over, as in first born, and to increase in size, or to grow larger.” He was born nine weeks premature, weight less than a pound.
Cool shades of ambient music, stuttering early IDM, dubstep sub-bass, and jazz melodicism color SHIGETO’s palette, which he wields with a painterly attention to detail. Likewise, his live performance is a melding of live drumming with electronics. While Zach’s body of work has grown over the last few years, he has played many big festivals around the world including Croatia’s Soundwave, Oregon’s What The Festival, Detroit’s Movement, and Decibel Festivals. Zach continues to be prolific with August 2013’s release of No Better Time than Now, a complex constellation of sounds and ideas that we have come to expect from the producer/drummer.
Beat-driven but given to richly-textured sound design. Rhythmically fractured but melodically sumptuous. SHIGETO’s music is a bridge between the past and present. Meet SHIGETO and dive into an ever-shifting array of rhythms and melodies. There is no better time than November 7-10th.
